Hello everyone, I hope you all had a happy Easter. Willow, her daddy and I had a lovely day.

I think the Easter weekend is such a nice time of year, it's exciting for the kids and means a bank holiday for us adults. I spent the week beforehand reading as many Easter books as possible with Willow so she could get really excited this year. She has been asking to do Easter egg hunts every morning, so we have done little mini hunts in the house and in the garden (weather permitting). Watching her adorable little proud face when she finds an egg and pops it in her basket has been so nice. She picked out 2 Easter baskets this year, a traditional wicker one and a cute yellow chick one (pictured below).

On the Sunday morning the weather was pretty nice (hallelujah) so we got to have a little socially distant garden visit from Willow's Grandma and Grandpa, we had a lovely Easter roast and of course lots of chocolate. In the afternoon when it all calmed down a but we did some crafts which Willow seemed to love. I'd love to share them with you as they were not particularly Easter themed, they just made use of what we had lying around.

Nature Picture

You will need: Card, PVA Glue and anything you can gather in your garden.

  1. We used her Easter basket again to get out in the garden and look for anything that was natural and caught Willow's eye. We gathered up lots of flowers, leaves and other bits from the garden into her basket and brought them inside.

  2. Next I let Willow pick out a piece of card whatever colour she wanted and spread the PVA glue on it randomly.

  3. Then I just let her stick the pieces she had gathered any way she wanted on the card until she said it was done.

  4. Then we let the glue dry and voila! Pretty good for a first try I think.

Willow's Nature Picture

Willow loved gathering all the things and putting this together (and of course working with glue). It's a nice quick activity and lots of fun for little ones. Also a great opportunity to teach the names of flowers and get outside and get some fresh air.

Squishy Balloon face

You will need: A balloon, some flour, markers or pen and a funnel.

  1. Push a funnel into the neck of the balloon and pour in some flour. You will need enough to make sure it is a little full but not like a blown up balloon.

  2. Then tie the balloon up being careful not to let air inside.

  3. Then draw a face on as funny as you can and then you can squish.

I was going to add hair to this little guy but Willow was desperate to squish him. I don't blame her, it feels so weird but great fun. You can squash him, mould him and throw him around. He's great fun.

Cardboard Tube Friends

You will need: Cardboard tubes, Pens, Paint and pipe cleaners.

  1. First things first, these need to be painted. I let Willow pick out her own colours and paint them. I just filled in any bits she missed.

  2. Once the paint has dried then draw on faces or glue on eyes etc

  3. Make a little hole in each side and thread through whatever colour pipe cleaner you want and pose them into arms. Done. So simple.

Willow Loved these and called them her wiggly friends. She's still playing with them days later.

It's funny the things that little kids like but I have found that if they have helped make something and are proud of it they will always like it better.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our crafty Easter and as always stay tuned for more content.
