If you are thinking of buying your child a dolls house to play with there are so many available at the moment that you may be overwhelmed with choice. Look no further for all you need to know about Dollhouses.
Are Dolls Houses just for girls?
The short answer is of course not. Dolls houses were traditionally small replicas of the houses that the rich lived in and were played with by mostly girls, these days though the range which you can get hold of at an affordable price is so diverse that there is something out there for every child. Boys and girls alike.
Big or small Dolls House?
Now this one depends on two factors. Firstly how much space you have available, you don't want to buy an absolutely massive dollhouse if you don't have the room for it, it will just become a place to store other toys inside. The other factor is your child, if you have a child who loves to sit and play with little dolls and to organise their smaller toys then in all likelihood they will love a big dolls house with lots of rooms that they can set up as they like. But if you have a child who is more into more active forms of imaginative play then a smaller one will do the trick as it may not hold their attention for quite long enough to justify the space a large one would take up.
Wooden or plastic Dolls House?
Most dolls houses these days are made of either wood or plastic, both types have their pros and cons. Plastic is generally cheaper and easier to thoroughly clean and disinfect but of course, wooden ones are much more environmentally friendly and built to last. Wooden ones are generally better for children over three, if your child is younger then consider the plastic alternative.

Best Budget Dolls House
This lovely Dolls house from Asda Direct is super pretty and budget-friendly. It is a really god size at H 58cm x W 59cm x D 33cm. It has 3 stories and the front opens up and the roof slots off for maximum play space. The door and windows also op as well which is a nice little feature. The only thing about this is that the furniture is sold separately so you will have to shell out a little more for furniture too. You can pick this up Here.

A word about Vintage
You can from time to time find old antique or vintage Dolls houses for a decent price, I always have my eyes open for one for Willow as there is nothing these days that quite compares to the old manor or mansion-style houses with their beautifully decorative furniture. IF you have the means, your child likes playing with their dolls house and you find one out there they will last forever and I think will be a beautiful piece to hand down through the generations. It's something to possibly think about.
